IN SEACH OF THE AUTHOR is an exciting new exhibition curated by the National Portrait Gallery and the British Library.
This exhibition sheds new light on some of the best-loved figures in English literature, investigating their enduring appeal across the generations, from the sixteenth century to today. For the first time, intimate hand-written manuscripts, letters and diaries as well as rare first editions of books from the British Library will be seen alongside outstanding portraits of authors from the National Portrait Gallery.
Exhibition visitors will have a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity for unique encounters with some of the world’s most famous authors. The curation allows for localization, inserting an additional focus on local Authors in line with the curation of the overall exhibition, bringing the subject close to the exhibition visitors.
